I was interested in building LED matrices, and I had successfully built a 3×3 matrix as a test, so I decided to scale it up and make a fully-custom clock.

I produced this clock before I had a 3D printer, so I designed it such that the hardware would hold itself together. The main board with the microcontroller serves as the base, and the column header pins work double-duty to prop up the LED matrix.

I’ve yet to complete the software for this clock, as the time cannot be fully set on-device yet, but it displays the time as long as the real time clock module is set correctly. Unfortunately, it’s a little hard to read due to the lack of diffusion on the LEDs, but it’s still one of my favorite projects to date.
